Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Dunkirk is still undefeated this season after their match against Chautauqua Lake on Friday, but Chautauqua Lake came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Marauders never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Marauders have posted against the Eagles since May 1, 2015.

Greg Orcutt and Josh Lemanski made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Orcutt struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lemanski pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Orcutt got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, while Lemanski got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Piede, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Alex Biscaro also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Dunkirk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Dunkirk pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for Chautauqua Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Dunkirk and Chautauqua Lake will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Marauders will face off against rival Fredonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chautauqua Lake is set to take on their familiar foe Pine Valley Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
