Tyrone hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Golden Eagles will take on the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Tyrone will be strutting in after a victory while Central will be coming in after a defeat.
Tyrone took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bishop Carroll with a sharp 16-1 win.
Kaitlyn Rockwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Rockwell was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Tyrone let Amariah Sprankle and Sage Harris run wild. Sprankle went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Harris went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Naylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Central came up short against Central Cambria on Friday, falling 16-3.
Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Moses, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Tyrone's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Tyrone's way against Central when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Tyrone made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
