In what's become a running theme this season, the Monroe Golden Tornadoes gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Thomasville at home to the tune of 80-47. The win was nothing new for Monroe as they're now sitting on three straight.
Monroe was led to victory by Nehemiah Tinch and Justin Burns. Tinch went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 1 assist, while Burns scored 20 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tinch has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Still, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Thomasville saw an underclassman step up: Monte Colvin scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Antonie Garland, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Monroe's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. As for Thomasville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Crisp County the next time they take the court. Thomasville will head out to face Crisp County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Monroe will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
