The Washington Pam Pack will head out on the road to challenge the North Lenoir Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while North Lenoir will come in with three straight wins.
Washington came into this matchup off a tough 16-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of North Johnston by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pam Pack have suffered since February 25th.
Washington got a good showing from Adam Mizelle, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Mizelle has allowed since back in April of 2025.
At the plate, Cameron Mackey was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Luis Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North Lenoir ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over West Craven. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 8, 2025.
North Lenoir let Mason Murphy and Cristian Veal run wild. Murphy went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Veal got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Israel Almanza, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
North Lenoir kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
North Lenoir's record now sits at 4-6. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Washington couldn't quite get it done against North Lenoir in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 as they fell 3-0. Can the Pam Pack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
