The Prairie View Thunderhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Prairie View in their matchups with Legacy: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Prairie View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javon Brewton. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Brewton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Ulibarri, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Legacy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joey Delescinskis, who scored 18 points along with five steals. Delescinskis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaedon Ward, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Prairie View dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Legacy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Prairie View will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Mountain Range at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Mountain Range knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Prairie View likes a good challenge. As for Legacy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. Brighton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Legacy is ranked 50th).
