If the Carver Tigers were feeling good off their 80-28 takedown of the Columbus Blue Devils last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Carver's tough 85-62 loss to Palm Bay on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Carver's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jazmin Thornton, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Thornton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Camryn Thomas was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaida Civil, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara Williams, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Carver's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Palm Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Carver will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 683rd in Texas, while Carver is ranked 37th in Georgia). Palm Bay won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Campbell at 1:15 p.m. on January 6th. Campbell has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three matchups.
