Football Recap: Bishop Skates Past Progreso with Ease

While Bishop put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Progreso. The Badgers claimed a resounding 55-0 victory over the Red Ants. The Badgers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Bishop got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxten Eli Montalvo out in front who threw for 134 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Eli Montalvo's passing game has become a key predictor of the Badgers' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Eric Owens did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 60 receiving yards.

Bishop's run defense was locked in: Progreso could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Zackery Guard for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bishop's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.3.

Bishop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Jesus Sandoval picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bishop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Progreso, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
