The Weaver Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Munford Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Weaver won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were beaten by Jacksonville 57-19. While losing is never fun, Weaver can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Jacksonville is ranked 177th).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Munford, who are still winless after their tenth match. They were outmatched by Talladega at home and fell 66-32. Munford was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-15.
Weaver has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Munford, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Weaver was able to grind out a solid win over Munford when the teams last played back in January of 2022, winning 34-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weaver since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
