Volleyball Recap: Woodruff Has No Trouble Against Fountain Inn

Woodruff had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Fountain Inn on Thursday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Fury. While the Wolverines didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Woodruff not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Fountain Inn between 18 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

Jensyn Turner paced Woodruff's offense, picking up ten kills. Turner got some help from Natalee Simmons and her 17 assists. Harrison Rhodes and Jolin Pettay kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.

Woodruff is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Fountain Inn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Woodruff will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Fury: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:29 p.m. on Tuesday.
