The Shelton Highclimbers will head out on the road to face off against the Black Hills Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Shelton couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by WF West at home and fell 64-25. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shelton in their matchups with WF West: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Black Hills put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Elma with points to spare, taking the game 46-27. Given Black Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Elma is ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Black Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Venable led the charge by scoring 13 points along with four steals. The matchup was Venable's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Harris, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Shelton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Black Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Shelton was able to grind out a solid win over Black Hills in their previous meeting back in January, winning 47-39. Will Shelton repeat their success, or does Black Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
