The Glenn Hills Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Thomson Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Glenn Hills has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Thomson will arrive with seven straight wins.
On October 6th, Glenn Hills took a serious blow against Putnam County, falling 47-12. That's two games in a row now that Glenn Hills has lost by exactly 35 points.
Meanwhile, Thomson stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Putnam County 56-6 on the road. Given Thomson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Putnam County is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thomson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jahkiaus Jones, who threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Thomson also got help from Kasai Jones who showed off his sure hands for 130 receiving yards.
Glenn Hills' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.5 points per game. As for Thomson, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
