Victory Christian Academy received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 55-37 to Patel. Victory Christian Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Victory Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bianca Barroso. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Barroso is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Hansen, who scored seven points.
Even though they lost, Victory Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patel only posted an assist.
SIMARKAE MCLEAN was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Patel. That makes it nine consecutive games in which MCLEAN has scored at least 25% of Patel's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ADRIANA ELLIS, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Victory Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Patel, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Victory Christian Academy and Lake Wales will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Lake Wales will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Patel will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brandon Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
