Peninsula - Bay recap October 8, 2013
Menlo scaled the state rankings by moving to 212 from 264 this week, the biggest jump in Peninsula - Bay. The Knights were able to move up by topping McClymonds 47-40.
Sacred Heart Prep took down Woodside 42-2 last week, the largest margin of any game. Andrew Segre ran for 152 yards and caught 3 passes for 120 yards during the win.
Jack Heneghan threw for 349 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 19-34 with 2 interceptions.
Paul Westcott was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Gators topped the Wildcats. The 6-foot-1 senior racked up 3 sacks.
Heneghan put up the best numbers through the air as Menlo defeated the Warriors. Heneghan's favorite target this week was Graham Stratford, who caught 5 passes for 102 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Mark Newton's team's Heneghan and Peter Bouret have proven to be a lethal combination. Heneghan has thrown for 1,597 yards this season, while Bouret has 36 catches for 576 yards. Isiah Nash from Menlo-Atherton leads the league in rushing with 469 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sequoia takes on Terra Nova. The Cherokee are currently in fourth, while the Tigers are in first.
The Knights led Peninsula - Bay in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on McClymonds. Heneghan ran for 23 yards and caught 1 pass for 10 yards in the win.
