Holt has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Hannibal Pirates at TBD on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Holt on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Mexico out of the water with a 57-6 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Holt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Adams, who rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Kayone Thompson, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hannibal entered their tilt with St. Charles with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Hannibal beat St. Charles on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 64-12. Given Hannibal's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while St. Charles is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holt's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for Hannibal, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
