The Mt. Markham Mustangs had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Adirondack by a score of 52-45. That's another feather in the cap for Mt. Markham, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Adirondack's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Juliana McGrady, who scored 14 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. McGrady scored a full 31.1% of Adirondack's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Raquel Paschke, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Mt. Markham's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Adirondack, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Markham will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sherburne-Earlville at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Adirondack, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Little Falls at 5:30 p.m.
