The Fort Lupton Bluedevils won the last time they faced the Jefferson Academy Jaguars, and things went their way on Friday too. Fort Lupton strolled past the Jaguars with points to spare, taking the game 63-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fort Lupton.
Fort Lupton found their leader in underclassman Javon Gonzales, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. Gonzales hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Shane Callahan, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Academy still got an impressive performance from Josh Neely, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36.2% of Jefferson Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Prevost, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Jefferson Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Lupton only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Fort Lupton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Jefferson Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
Fort Lupton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Jefferson Academy, they will head out on the road to take on the Sun Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
