The Orem Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Springville Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Orem comes in on 11 and Springville on five.
On Tuesday, Orem made easy work of Wasatch and carried off a 64-43 victory. Orem pushed the score to 55-33 by the end of the third, a deficit Wasatch cut but never quite recovered from.
Orem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chance Dastrup, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. Dastrup hasn't dropped below ten assists for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Allen, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Spanish Fork scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Springville still came out on top. Springville secured a 61-56 W over Spanish Fork. Given Springville's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Spanish Fork is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orem pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Springville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Everything went Orem's way against Springville in their previous meeting back in January as Orem made off with a 69-44 victory. With Orem ahead 40-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
