4A Greater Neuse River recap Oct. 23, 2012
Garner Magnet extended the longest winning streak in 4A Greater Neuse River this week by beating Southeast Raleigh, 28-6. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Trojans.
East Wake made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,594 from 8,246. The improvement came about via a 62-14 victory over Smithfield-Selma last week.
Garner Magnet's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Vincent Jefferies has thrown for 1360 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Armani Lanier has 39 catches for 788 yards. Raevon Smith leads the league in rushing with 1092 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Clayton takes on Knightdale. As it stands, the Comets are in third, while the Knights are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Harnett Central and Garner Magnet face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Trojans comes in having scored 42 this season, while Nelson Smith's team has scored 413. Harnett Central scored 13 points last week as it lost to Knightdale.
