The Kellam Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Green Run Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kellam posted their biggest victory since December 19, 2023 on Friday. They really took it to Kempsville for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-39 win on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kellam.
Kellam's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Spain, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kate Spain, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Green Run entered their tilt with Cox with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Green Run breezed by Cox on the road to the tune of 62-25. Given Green Run's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Cox is ranked 285th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kellam is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Green Run, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Kellam skirted past Green Run 50-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kellam since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
