Angleton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Ball as Angleton made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Bella Nava tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayleen Cervantes, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lily Calderon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Angleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ball only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, La Porte was able to grind out a solid win over Santa Fe on Friday, taking the game 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.
Not much got past Aaliyah Maldonado, who gave up just six hits to keep Santa Fe off the board.
At the plate, Madison Lopez was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
Angleton's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for La Porte, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1.
Angleton came out on top in a nail-biter against La Porte in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Angleton repeat their success, or does La Porte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
