Basketball Recap: Carson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Concord

Carson scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Concord Spiders by a score of 54-52. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Carson lost, don't look at Allie Martin. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. Martin has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Hedrick, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards.

Even though they lost, Carson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Concord to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylin Williams, who went 9 of 19 on her way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Nebrick, who posted six points along with 16 rebounds and six blocks.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Concord, their record is now 3-9.

Carson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-37 win against Kings Mountain on the 8th. As for Concord, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-30 loss against Northwest Cabarrus on the 9th.
