New Holstein is 9-1 against Roncalli since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Huskies will face off against the Jets at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
New Holstein came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Kewaskum by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since May 17, 2024.
Max Hellman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Parker Ziebell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Roncalli didn't have quite enough to beat Peshtigo on Monday and fell 7-6.
Hayden Dewane was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season.
Dewane wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Hillmer, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Hillmer snagged this season.
This is the second loss in a row for New Holstein and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Roncalli, their record now sits at 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Holstein has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roncalli struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went New Holstein's way against Roncalli when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as New Holstein made off with a 15-8 victory. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
