Softball Recap: Gunderson's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Gunderson dropped their record down to 9-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Evergreen Valley Cougars, falling 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Grizzlies have suffered since April 5, 2024.

As for Evergreen Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.7 runs.

For Evergreen Valley's part, Mackenzie Brongiel made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Brongiel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ariella Solorio was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sakura Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gunderson will square off against rival San Jose at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe James Lick at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
