The Unionville Longhorns will take on the Avon Grove Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Avon Grove took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Unionville, who comes in off a win.
Unionville will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Kennett on Thursday. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Blue Demons. Considering the Longhorns have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Smith and Gracie Brun did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Brun went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Smith a new career-high. Shannon Megill was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Avon Grove's offense. They fell just short of Downingtown West by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The Red Devils' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Elle Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Unionville's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Avon Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.
Unionville came out on top in a nail-biter against Avon Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Longhorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
