1A Western Slope recap Nov. 7, 2012
Hotchkiss moved up to 56 from 87 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A Western Slope. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of besting Wiggins 48-7.
Cedaredge extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Centauri, 55-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Hotchkiss' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Hardin threw for 62 and two touchdowns and Conner Beard had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Jacobe Galley chipped in 167 yards. Chris Allen helped Hotchkiss' passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.
Joe Boyle made the biggest impact on defense this week as Zac Lemon's team bested the Tigers. The senior recorded two fumbles and grabbed one sack.
On the ground, the Bulldogs' Galley has rushed for 1880 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Beard. The Hotchkiss star has 16 catches for 400 yards.
Cedaredge's Carter Wasser needs only six yards against Monte Vista next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Wasser has rushed for 994 yards on 116 carries so far this year.
Hotchkiss took down Wiggins 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hardin ran for 20 yards in the win.
