Liberty extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-13-3. They came up short against the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on Tuesday.
Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathon Wilkerson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Grahm Pavliska was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Hardin-Jefferson, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Hardin-Jefferson's side, Owen Sieve was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Sieve has posted since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Hardin-Jefferson got a massive performance out of Kade McReynolds, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. McReynolds is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Tran, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Liberty is set to challenge their familiar foe Tarkington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hardin-Jefferson will face off against rival Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
