The Walnut Grove Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Bluff Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Grove is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
While Walnut Grove couldn't quite beat Cedar Grove on Saturday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. Walnut Grove fell just short of Cedar Grove by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, even though East Forsyth scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, Cherokee Bluff still came out on top. Cherokee Bluff took their contest against East Forsyth 80-67. Given Cherokee Bluff's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while East Forsyth is ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walnut Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Cherokee Bluff, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Walnut Grove strolled past Cherokee Bluff in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 73-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walnut Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
