Kent Island has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Decatur Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Decatur took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kent Island, who comes in off a win.
Kent Island stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Kent County, posting a 54-26 victory at home. Given Kent Island's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Trojans are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Decatur had to suffer through a rough 67-24 loss at the hands of the Indians. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Decatur in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.
Kent Island's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Kent Island was able to grind out a solid victory over the Seahawks when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 40-30. Will Kent Island repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
