The Ysleta Indians will venture away from home to take on the Austin Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ysleta knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Austin likes a good challenge.
Ysleta's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Riverside as Ysleta made off with a 10-0 victory. The Indians have beaten the Rangers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rangers has come to flipping the script.
Evan Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ysleta got a massive performance out of Angel Flores, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Flores has become a key player for Ysleta: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alexander Rubio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Ysleta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Austin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Irvin by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Austin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anakin Torres, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Austin's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-14. As for Ysleta, their record now sits at 7-13.
Everything went Ysleta's way against Austin when the teams last played last Tuesday, as Ysleta made off with a 13-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ysleta since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
