It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Fowler Redcats can now relate to. They took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aztecs on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (43), Fowler still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Fowler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jerod Bubba smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns. ?hristopher Hooks was in the mix too, providing Fowler with two touchdowns.
Mendota was led to victory by Jesse Rodriguez and Donnie Munoz. Rodriguez rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, while Munoz rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Munoz was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.
Fowler now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Mendota, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Fowler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mendota will be playing in front of their home fans against Strathmore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Strathmore sitting on four straight victories and Mendota on three.
