AVA SCHMIDT was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, PEYTON GRABOSKE was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was LILA KOLCHARNO, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Tri-Valley won against Nativity BVM last Friday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Bulldogs didn't even let Marian Catholic on the board, marking the Bulldogs' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Like Holy Cross, Tri-Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Kora Rodichok. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Rodichok was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Olivia Witmer and Cassi Snyder did most of the damage at the plate: Witmer went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run, while Snyder went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Alina Leonard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Tri-Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marian Catholic only posted an OBP of .143.
Holy Cross' win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Tri-Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Holy Cross has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Tri-Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
