Baseball Game Preview: Central York Panthers vs. Cedar Crest Falcons

The Central York Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Cedar Crest Falcons at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Cedar Crest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Central York, who comes in off a win.

Central York took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Spring Grove 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won four in a row.

Jacob Laughman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Laughman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Burch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Burch has become a key player for Central York: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Cedar Crest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-2 to Manheim Township, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Central York's record is now 9-10. As for Cedar Crest, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Central York couldn't quite get it done against Cedar Crest when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
