Baseball Recap: Brick Township Has No Trouble Against Barnegat

While Brick Township put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Barnegat. The Green Dragons put the hurt on the Bengals with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Green Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Sean Savannah's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chris Quick, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Taylor Cavanaugh also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Brick Township's win bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for Barnegat, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, Brick Township is taking a road trip to square off against New Egypt at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Barnegat will be paying especially close attention to the Green Dragons' contest: after the Green Dragons face off against the Warriors, they'll take on Barnegat again at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
