In what's become a running theme this season, Franklin Community gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They breezed by Seymour at home to the tune of 66-36. 66 seems to be a good number for Franklin Community as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Franklin Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scarlett Kimbrell led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Kimbrell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Erica Buening was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Whiteland suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-35 walloping at the hands of Shelbyville.
Whiteland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophia Dyer, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds, and Carly Vondielingen who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Community's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Whiteland, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's match: Franklin Community have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Whiteland, though, as they've been averaging only 5.2 threes per game. Given Franklin Community's sizeable advantage in that area, Whiteland will need to find a way to close that gap.
