Hillsborough has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Leto Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Tuesday, Hillsborough was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Wharton. While losing is never fun, Hillsborough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Wharton is ranked 88th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jojo Cruz-Smartt, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellayna Stephens, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Leto's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 60-36 loss to Blake might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Leto has suffered since December 6, 2023.
Hillsborough's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Leto, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.
Hillsborough beat Leto 55-46 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Hillsborough repeat their success, or does Leto have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
