Valley Forge has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the North Royalton Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Valley Forge suffered a tough 49-29 defeat at the hands of the Rockets.
Despite their loss, Valley Forge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taylor Patrick, who scored eight points along with two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Patrick posted two or more blocks. Mikayla Hoang was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, North Royalton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their tenth straight defeat. Their rough 47-24 defeat to Wadsworth might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, North Royalton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 45th).
Despite the defeat, North Royalton saw an underclassman step up: Madie Colella scored ten points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Royalton struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are 1-6 when they just don't pass the ball.
Valley Forge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for North Royalton, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Valley Forge have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Royalton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
