This season hasn't been kind to the Southern Wake Academy Lions, who are still winless after their 14th contest. They were dealt a 49-10 defeat at the hands of River Mill on Wednesday. Southern Wake Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-5.
Jayme Endicott was Southern Wake Academy's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Kadence Hamilton held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.
River Mill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gracie Wilson out in front who scored 21 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sydnie Barfield, who scored eight points along with seven steals and six assists.
Southern Wake Academy dropped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for River Mill, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Wake Academy and Triangle Math & Science will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Triangle Math & Science is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.2 points per game. As for River Mill, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Woods Charter at 6:00 p.m.
