2A Greater St. Helens recap Oct. 23, 2012
Mark Morris extended the longest winning streak in 2A Greater St. Helens this week by beating Washougal, 48-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Monarchs.
Hockinson moved up to 134 from 160 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hawks climbed the ranks as a result of beating Aberdeen 36-7.
Ridgefield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gunnar Long threw for 174 and one touchdown and Sam Gillenwater had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Knox chipped in 170 yards. Clayton Farr helped Ridgefield's passing attack out by catching three balls for 37 yards.
Ridgefield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spudders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Long has thrown for 1025 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Gillenwater has 15 catches for 509 yards. Farr leads the league in rushing with 670 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Greater St. Helens this week will be when Mark Morris takes on Long. As it stands, Shawn Perkins' team is in first, while the Lumberjacks are in fourth.
The Spudders led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Long. Knox caught one passes for 16 yards in the win.
