It was a good run, but the Goldsboro Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their 16-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Eastern Wayne 40-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Goldsboro has scored all season.
Goldsboro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aziyah Boyer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Des'Myah Croom was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Goldsboro's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-1. As for Eastern Wayne, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goldsboro will take on the Bruins at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Cougars a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Eastern Wayne, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Princeton is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
