Baseball Recap: Montgomery Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against White House, Montgomery Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Fairview Yellowjackets. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Robert Cilk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montgomery Central is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Cooper Dixon was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Malosi Laban was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Montgomery Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Fairview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery Central will square off against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fairview, they will challenge Camden Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
