Catholic Central took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Chippewa Valley Big Reds 41-7. The Shamrocks' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Catholic Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Duke Banta, who threw for 148 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Banta a new career-high in rushing yards (12). Another back making a difference was Cedric Williams, who rushed for 66 yards and one score on only five carries.
Chippewa Valley's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
