Mark Campos of Wheatland ran for the longest rushing play in Butte View this season against Las Plumas last week. Campos' team beat the Thunderbirds as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 136 in all.
Orland moved up to 407 from 476 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-0 win over Corning helped the Trojans improve their standing.
Andrew Gonzales made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wheatland defeated Las Plumas. The 6-foot-0 senior racked up 1.5 sacks.
Jackson Hopking put up the best numbers through the air as Neil Stinson's team beat David Morris' team. He finished with a total of nine completions for 156 yards and four touchdowns. Hopking's favorite target this week was Jordan Samson, who caught two passes for 59 yards.
Ben Case was the best wideout in the league this week as Winters fell to Sutter. Case tallied five receptions for 71 yards. Jacob Lowrie helped Winters' passing attack out by catching two balls for 17 yards.
The Pirates' Hopking and Samson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Butte View in both passing and receiving yards. Hopking has thrown for 815 yards this season, while Samson, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 20 catches for 419 yards. The Huskies' Nathan Ahlers leads the league in rushing yards with 705.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sutter takes on Gridley. Ryan Reynolds' team is in first place, while the Bulldogs are in seventh place.
The Huskies extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Warriors, 52-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
