Charleston Collegiate has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Curtis Baptist Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 62 points the game before, Charleston Collegiate were a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Cross at home and fell 53-23. While losing is never fun, Charleston Collegiate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Stingrays are ranked 98th).
Meanwhile, Curtis Baptist stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past South Aiken Baptist Christian, posting a 40-9 win at home. The victory was familiar territory for Curtis Baptist who now have nine in a row.
Curtis Baptist's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Abby Coughlin, who scored 11 points along with six steals, and Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Butler hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hunt, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Charleston Collegiate has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Curtis Baptist, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
