After seven games on the road, Lake City is heading back home. They will take on the Darlington Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Darlington is ranked 34th).
Lake City suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 last Tuesday. They suffered a rough 64-42 loss at the hands of Lakewood. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake City has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Lake City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Blayne Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Bryson Rose was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Darlington had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.9 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 51-42.
Lake City bumped their record down to 6-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Darlington, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
Lake City skirted past Darlington 34-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Lake City repeat their success, or does Darlington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
