The Arapahoe Warriors were the 54-34 winner over the Maxwell Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Arapahoe fell just short of Maxwell by a score of 33-30.
When it comes to explaining why Arapahoe lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Berkley Warner. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Warner scored a full 33.3% of Arapahoe's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sage Larson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Leading Maxwell to victory were Jocelyn Cheek and Kristyn Cheek. Cheek scored six points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks, while Cheek scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cheek scored 15 or more points.
Arapahoe now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Maxwell, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Arapahoe will be playing in front of their home fans against Medicine Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Medicine Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Thursday. As for Maxwell, they will head out on the road to face off against Hershey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hershey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
