The Kermit Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against Compass Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Compass Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kermit, who comes in off a win.
Kermit's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They really took it to Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-12 win at home. The win was just what Kermit needed coming off of a 67-25 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Compass Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Ozona 58-11. While losing is never fun, Compass Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1374th, while Ozona is ranked 102nd).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Compass Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kermit pushed their record up to 7-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Compass Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Kermit against Compass Academy in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 49-20 win. With Kermit ahead 32-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
