Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Fowler's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Fowler's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Riverdale Cowboys get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. Considering the Redcats have won 12 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaelyn Quintana made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fowler let Alexis Alvarado and Danika Serrano run wild. Alvarado went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Serrano went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Serrano has posted since back in March. Bailey Monis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Fowler is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, they moved to 10-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Fowler will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cowboys: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
