Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Skyhawks. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Melia Aionaaka was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rosely Hensley-Mokiao, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Madyson McGaughey, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Shadow Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silverado only posted an OBP of .389.
Shadow Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop Gorman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Shadow Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
