Baseball Game Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

For the second straight game, Harrison Central will face off against Ocean Springs. The Red Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greyhounds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harrison Central hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Harrison Central and Ocean Springs have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Red Rebels came up short against the Greyhounds, falling 10-1.

For Ocean Springs' part, they got a great performance from Tristen Fox as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Fox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Justin San Miguel was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jack Jordan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ocean Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrison Central only posted a batting average of .185.

Ocean Springs' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harrison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Harrison Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ocean Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
