The Flat Rock Rams will be playing at home against the Riverview Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Flat Rock can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Milan as Flat Rock made off with a 60-34 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Flat Rock has posted against Milan since February 21, 2019.
Flat Rock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lily Klein led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Klein has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madleen Hussein, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Riverview waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down Jefferson 59-43. Given Riverview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Jefferson is ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview found their leader in underclassman Keira Logan, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Logan scored 15 or more points. Brooklyn Poe was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Flat Rock now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Riverview, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Flat Rock have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Riverview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Flat Rock was dealt a bruising 55-25 defeat at the hands of Riverview when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Flat Rock, Elyssa Kincaid (who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
